Belinda Flores Simons is the executive director of Su Casa de Esperanza. She graduated from the University of Texas-Pan American with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and a Master of Education in Counseling and Guidance. She has 43 years of experience in the field of education. Belinda is a Pharr native and resides there with her husband, Dennis, and their daughter, Danica. She believes that parents are a child’s first and most influential teacher and that education is the best inheritance that parents can give to their child. As executive director, she oversees the programs offered in the Las Milpas and Progreso centers.
Arlene Ramirez, our new Administrative Assistant, joined the Su Casa Staff in October. Arlene warmly welcomes all visitors to Su Casa De Esperanza and is responsible for the day to day operations of Su Casa De Esperanza. Her duties include bookkeeping, program statistics, scheduling, maintaining business records, and other administrative duties. Arlene has an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Office Management from South Texas College.
Arlene, her husband, and four children live in Pharr.
Su Casa home visitors implement the Comenzando Bien/Becoming A Mom curriculum in their home instruction with new mothers and mothers-to-be. They receive ongoing training on
the instructional materials.
Staff members receive ongoing training throughout the year. Training includes parenting practices, curriculum development, instructional practices, and child development. The staff attended a CPR training class at Knapp Medical Center in Weslaco in October. All staff members received their CPR certificate following the training.
